A Brief History of Comerford & Co., PC in Peru, Indiana
Jack K. Comerford (Butler University, 1949), opened his accounting practice in 1952 after working for a national accounting firm. Jack had a Sole Proprietorship until his son, Kevin Comerford (Notre Dame, 1978), joined him around 1983.
Another one of Jack’s sons, Tim Comerford (Notre Dame, 1981), joined the firm in 1986 and formed a partnership with Kevin taking over the business from Jack. In 1988, future, and now retiring partner, Dick Hammond (Ball State University, 1979), joined the firm after coming back to Peru.
In 2005 a corporation was formed with Kevin, Tim, and Dick known today as Comerford & Co., PC. Tim’s son, James Comerford (Indiana University, 2012) joined the firm in 2014 after working for a large firm in Indianapolis and shortly after Kevin Comerford started his retirement in 2016.
The year 2023 brought new ownership with James Comerford, becoming the first third-generation partner of the firm.
